We had a delightful Christmas weekend. It started with us driving to Sequim on the 23rd. Grandma Karen had a quick fix dinner and we all turned in early. The 24th was mostly spent baking tasty treats, mainly Babka. That evening we went to the Christmas eve service at St. Luke's. I always enjoy this service, but it meant even more this year having Freyja in our lives.
Side note: a small chapel was built on the one side of the church that Freyja will soon be baptized in. And in case you don't know, this is also the church Jon and I were married in.
On Christmas morning, we opened the homemade gifts we made for each other, expect Freyja who received just the right amount of useful (not spoiling) things from Grandma Karen and Grandpa John.
Around two o'clock, we headed for my parents house in Federal Way. Along the way we stopped to see Freyja's Great Grandpa Bob. When we arrived to my parents, my mom had cooked up a wonderful Christmas roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. After dinner we opened gifts and turned in early again. On the 26th, Jon's parents came down to visit my parents and we chatted until dinner when we went out to a VERY GOOD Japanese buffet restaurant. Thanks Dad!
On Sunday we headed back to Bellingham, but not without a stop to see Freyja's third Grandma Seiko.
Ahhhhh, it is nice to be back home.
